Membership dues run from August 1 to July 31 of the following year, and are not prorated monthly. New members who join the AOA between January 1 and August 1 are are granted membership for the current year plus the following annual period; for example, a new member who joins the AOA in February of 2020 enjoys membership through August 1, 2021.
Each August, the AOA board of directors will announce a membership drive for renewing members in the upcoming membership year.

Each year, nominations for new officers and directors will close on Labor day. A nomination form is located in the member resources section of the AOA website. Nominees for an Officer or Director position must be current paid members and a member may only be nominated for one position. Any member wishing to vote must also be a current paid member. All Officer positions are for terms of one year and Directors are for terms of two years. Only half of the Directors (currently there are 4 Director positions on the Board) may sit for election each year. There are currently only three Officer positions, President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer. The immediate Past-President is entitled to a seat for the next year on the Board. The results of an election are announced by the President at the annual meeting and the terms begin immediately following the end of the annual meeting.
Voting for nominees closes September 30, and the results will be announced October 1. New officers/directors become effective at the November annual meeting.
